Paying A Bit Extra For Your Flights Is A Wise Idea Sometimes

February 20th, 2011

We all love it when we get a good deal or a bargain but sometimes it is better to pay a bit more for something if it means that the service we get is going to be better. So for those who are planning a holiday soon, maybe choosing to pay a bit more for flights would be a good idea, in particular for people planning a long haul holiday. It is possible to get a better service just by paying a little bit extra for your flights; I’m not saying you have to travel business class. Many of us will look for the cheapest flights automatically without even having a look to see what other options are available. What can actually happen in this case is that you end up paying for a flight where you won’t be very comfortable and for a few pounds extra you could have really improved the comfort of your flight.

Some of the cheap airlines have managed to turn air travel into an almost torturous affair. A couple of decades ago, travelling by plane was a real treat that people looked forward to because for those few hours they would be pampered. But the way some airlines treat their passengers is scandalous nowadays because they don’t get much in the way of service and even have to pay for using a blanket. And many passengers don’t realise that they could avail of a vastly improved service if they would only pay a little bit more for alternative flights; they put themselves through the misery of a cheaper service instead.

And if you end up at your destination feeling distressed and frustrated because of the flight you have endured, it really won’t be worth it. So instead of automatically going for the cheapest option, you should spend a bit of time looking around at what is available. And it would be worth comparing the flights on offer because you might find a more expensive flight but with food included whereas the cheaper flight could cost extra for food; it makes sense to check these things properly. In fact some budget airlines manage to finance their cheap deals by charging extortionate amounts of money for items once you are on board after all you are a captive audience.

Who’s Hungary For Central Europe

November 29th, 2010

Holidays in the east of Europe are becoming more and more popular. The fantastic exchange rate and lack of package tourist development means that everything is affordable and also unspoilt. Unlike tourist traps like Magalluf or Majorca the east has a long history of trade and communication meaning that hotels and restaurants are well versed in customer service as well as food that is influenced not only by fast food but also by cultures such as Turkey, Persia and Russia.

When we think of the East we think of a stereotype where dour grey cold cityscapes are populated with dour grey people in dour grey suits. We tend to think of it as being always cold and miserable with a soundtrack of funereal music. Muttering about személyi hitel or gyorskölcsön készpénzben into their cabbage soup. Of course the reverse is true, in Bulgaria Burgas and Varna are popular holiday resorts on the Black Sea attracting tourists from all over the former Soviet republics as well as tourists from the rest of Europe looking for cheap new places to visit. Once you’re in countries such as Hungary and Romania the languages they speak sound very Russian but the alphabet is Latin. If you find yourself in Budapest and you need a hotel, don’t go to the place with a sign outside saying Hitel or Hitelek as these aren’t hotels but loan shops! Hotels in Hungary are known as Szallas instead.

Hungary lies on the same parallels as central France and northern Italy, in reality the climate is quite temperate. The cities in Hungary have been mostly unharmed since the country’s heyday in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Hungarian Army fought in the First and Second World Wars, however, unlike France or Belgium to the west or Ukraine or Russia to the east, not a great deal of fighting took place on Hungarian soil. This meant that much of the antique architecture survives to this day so it hosts some of the best examples of central European mediaeval and post renaissance architecture and art there are left in the world.

If you are there on holiday you might be better off if you to try and avoid town centres at night. As the countries have opened up to foreign visitors from outside of the former Soviet Bloc and while prices as well as local wages remain low then the major cities attract stag parties from further west who often end up creating a lot of trouble for the local police.

Deciding Between An All Inclusive Holiday And A Self Catering Holiday

October 19th, 2010

Holidays are for good times. The weather should be marvelous, your rooms should be impeccable and the food should be to die for, right? Theres no way to have control over the weather, except for making smart choices as to destination. Dont expect a beach holiday in the winter in Ireland. You certainly can have some control over your accommodation and food.

There are pros and cons to both all inclusive and self catering holidays. What you choose will depend on your lifestyle and preferences. Both can save you money. On self catering holidays you are responsible for cooking and for cleaning. This means that your rooms may cost less as youre not paying for maid service. It also means that when you come in from a long day of holiday fun, that your beds wont be made and you may still have to cook dinner, unless youre going out.

All inclusive holidays sound very attractive. Who doesnt like free drinks, food on the table and maid service? In general, it does all sound good. However, many travelers who have stayed at all inclusive resorts report that sometimes the food is awful and sometimes its cold. Some say that meal hours are limited so that if youre off swimming during the one hour that the midday meal is served, that you will either have to go pay for a meal elsewhere or be hungry until tea.

There are many luxury self catering accommodation all over the world. Most of those seem to come in the form of cottages and villas (even the word villa sounds luxurious, doesnt it?) There are also many self catering establishments all over the world. Get online and read reviews about accommodation where you plan to holiday. Chances are very good that if someone is writing a review online about where they stayed, that they have no motive other than reporting about their stay. You can usually put some trust in these reviews.

Dont go anywhere until you ask your friends about their holiday experiences. You most probably know people who have gone on all inclusive and self catering holidays. They will surely enjoy recounting their experiences about both types of holidays to you. And chances are pretty good that there will be one or two places that they really enjoyed.

Why Buying Christmas Hampers Is A Great Idea

September 1st, 2010

Getting some one the right sort of Christmas present can be a very difficult thing to do sometimes.  Finding the right Christmas gift for a loved one or a close relative can be hard enough but finding one for some one you don’t really know can feel like an impossible task.  There are however certain gifts that everyone will enjoy and appreciate, which can save you a lot of time searching around the shops.  Christmas food hampers for example are one of those gifts that most people will love and enjoy even if they don’t include everything they like in them.  They are full of wonderful things to eat that will suit everybody who receives them as a gift.  There are so many reasons Christmas hampers make great gifts and here are three reasons why.

1. Corporate Christmas Gifts – Sending a Christmas hamper to a client or a supplier is a great way to say thank you.  Doing this can often help to improve relationships with clients and suppliers.  When you receive a gift from someone that is unexpected it will often stick in your mind so doing this in a business sense can open new avenues for you.  Your supplier could end up recommending you to another business or a client may mention you at a business meeting and you never know if this will lead to other businesses becoming clients.  The other thing is that they will feel like they are appreciated and will hopefully continue to work in conjunction with you.

2. Range – You find a whole host of different types of food hampers that you can give to someone as a Christmas gift.  If the gift is for children or someone that loves sweets then why not give them a sweet hamper that is full of chocolate, jelly beans and other candy treats.  These will go down well with children as well as adults. .

3. Ease Of Delivery – You can get Christmas hampers delivered straight to the person you are giving them to, which is a great advantage.  This means you can either buy them online or speak directly to a supplier on the phone.  In some cases you will find that many food hamper suppliers will be more than happy to create bespoke hampers full of individually chosen treats.  It also means that once you have ordered it the Christmas hamper will arrive gift wrapped with a card much like delivered flowers.
