Hungary Has It

Hungary has always been a country of changes, we get our name for it from when it was under the control of The Huns yet with its Central European location it has been a buffer for the rest of Europe against the Turks and indeed was under the control of the Ottomans for over 150 years in the Early Modern period. After this it became a part of the Hapsburg monarchy then, as such, became half of the Austro-Hungarian Empire which lasted until the end of the First World War when it again became a kingdom in and of itself. This state of affairs lasted until 1946 when, after the Second World War, Hungary became a republic and was absorbed into the Soviet Bloc.Once the Soviet era was over Hungary had to make the difficult transition from planned economy to free market economy, a transition which meant many hardships for the average Hungarian. Rather than depend on Gyors hitel or loans the Hungarian government introduced income tax and cut public welfare programmes yet the national debt still went up 1,500% between 1973 and 1993

Now, thanks to the relative strength of the Western economy and the ease of travel thanks to Hungary’s membership of the EU, the history of hospitality toward travellers from the west and east, Central Europe is rapidly becoming the Stag Night destination everybody wants to visit. it isn’t very far away, only a couple of hours to fly there and it’s incredibly cheap so it’s easy to get the whole gang over and enjoying the local produce, which as well as fabulous food happens to include beer and vodka, for next to nothing. The British reputation proceeds them and many bars and clubs have diametrically opposed attitudes to Stags, some welcome them and provide all the entertainments you could wish for while others prefer not to have British group bookings at all. Although the cost of living is cheap wages are considered low in regards to the rest of Europe. You might find bar owners asking for a gyorskölcsön készpénzben or a kind of personal loan when you make reservations and it is always best to pay if you want to the evening to go well. If you don’t give the manager a “hitel” you’ll often find service is terrible, girls won’t talk to you or your friends, the authorities might even turn up and send you back to your hotel or take you in for being too drunk.
