Comparing Frequent Flyer Programs
If you are frequently traveling in any commercial airline flights and employ the same carrier in most of the travel, then you can apply for their loyalty program called frequent flyer program. Frequent Flyers Services reported there are about 75 million frequent flyers up to now and they log more than 700 billion miles yearly. One flyer alone has accumulated about 23 million miles.
Among the airlines which offer this type of traveling program is the largest contributor- American Airlines. They have more than 46 million members up to now. Including American Airlines, there are already about 92 existing frequent flyer programs being offered by many airlines with different schemes and benefits.
Based on reports people traveling for business reason are credited for most of the points but within the yeas, passengers traveling leisurely like vacation have grown to be more frequent flyers too. Members earn an average of 11,400 miles/year.
The program was formulated to maintain the loyalty from the customer by giving them rewards after they reach a certain travel milestones. There isn’t any ‘the best’ programs actually since each airlines offers different scheme with various reward system.
Continental offers OnePass Program. One mile flown by the passenger on the Continental airline is equivalent to one mile earned. Most flights require about 25,000 miles to earn free flight but this program requires only fewer miles. Free flights is anywhere in mainland US to anywhere in continental US.
If frequent traveler from the Continental airline can earn miles, Southwest Airlines on the other hand offers Rapid Rewards when they accumulate points. One point is equivalent to one way flight via Southwest and two points for round trip. Distance doesn’t matter as long as you are traveling with the airline therefore this really is advantageous to the people who fly only short distances.
Delta Airlines has its own SkyMiles Program. This program is similar to Continental’s because you earn miles not points. Once you earn about 25,000 miles, you are entitled to a free flight as long as it is within continental US. Delta’s program requires almost the same accumulations of miles. But only this airline requires fewer miles to earn a totally free flight to Southern South usa.
Whatever airlines you most frequently travel, it would be beneficial should you enroll in these programs to avail of free flights and other rewards. There are program that allows you to accumulate points using credit card, car rental and even hotel stays. With respect to the tie up companies of these airlines, points can be earned not only by traveling alone. Check out more at http://frequent-flyer.org/.
