Basic Checklist Before You Book That Long Weekend Away

Let’s be honest, this time of year can really suck, the weather sucks, the temperature sucks and it’s dark all the time. Despite the shops being full of tinsel and selection boxes already Christmas is still a way off. Those beautiful warm days of summer are nothing but a distant memory now. Now is the perfect time to book a mini break. With short plane tickets going so cheaply these days and so many amazing destinations just a few short hours away it’s so easy. If a trip to another country isn’t feasible you could consider exploring a new part of your own country.

Indulging in a mini break for the weekend could be just what you need to get some peace and quiet. If you have a look around your own country you’re sure to find something you want to do or something you want to see. A holiday cottage would be ideal if you’re the sort of person who likes their home comforts. Whether you’re after the vast landscapes of the Lake District or the tranquil beauty of the Cornish coast you’re bound to find a holiday home for rent near by. You may even find renting a holiday cottage is cheaper than booking a hotel.

Booking a holiday home still needs to be researched properly though and there’s a few things you’ll need to check. Check to make sure the proprietor has holiday cottage insurance. This isn’t the same as standard house insurance. Holiday home insurance means that both the building and contents are covered as well as any guests or tenants. If you do decide to leave the country you still need to make sure the property is covered by overseas property insurance.

All that’s left now is to simply enjoy your holiday. If you can leave your mobile switched off and leave the laptop at home. You won’t be able to really put your feet up if you’re still tied to your everyday life.
